Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1/4 c
- butter or margarine - 1/2 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- all-purpose flour - 2 c
- powdered sugar
- dark, unsweetened cocoa - 1/4 c
- dark cocoa - 2 tsp
- strongly brewed coffee or water - 1 c
- buttermilk or milk with 1/2 tsp - 1/2 c
- In saucepan, combine butter, shortening, coffee and cocoa
How to make texas brownies:
In large bowl, mix flour and sugar. In saucepan, combine butter, shortening, coffee and cocoa. Stir and heat to boiling. Pour boiling mixture over the flour and sugar; add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla.Mix well. Pour into well-buttered 17 1/2 x 11-inch pan. Bake at 400° for 20 minutes until brownies test done in middle. While cooling, prepare frosting.Frosting:1/2 c. butter or margarine2 tsp. dark cocoa1/4 c. milk3 1/2 c. powdered sugar1 tsp. vanilla In saucepan, combine the butter, cocoa and the milk; heat to boiling, stirring. Mix in the powdered sugar and vanilla until frosting is smooth. Pour the warm frosting over brownies. Cut into 48 bars.
