Sweet pickles
Ingredients/Components
- granulated sugar - 8 lb
- vinegar - 2 qt
- canning salt - 1 pt
- sliced cucumbers - 2 gal
- handful pickling spice in cheesecloth - 1 item
How to make sweet pickles:
Put sliced cucumbers in crock. Boil 1 gallon water and 1 pint canning salt and pour over cucumbers. Let stand 1 week. Drain water off. Pour 1 gallon of boiling water over cucumbers. Let stand 24 hours and then drain. Mix the granulated sugar, vinegar and pickling spice. Let come to a boil and pour over cucumbers. Do this 4 times with same ingredients. The fifth time, bring to a boil with same ingredients again. Pour over cucumbers that are placed in jars and seal.Recipe categories: American, Condiments, etc., Vegetables.
