Sweet and sour red cabbage
Ingredients/Components
- packed brown sugar - 1/4 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- water - 1 c
- vinegar - 3 Tbsp
- dash of pepper - 1 item
- shredded red cabbage - 4 c
- apples, peeled and sliced - 2 item
- bacon drippings or cooking oil - 2 Tbsp
How to make sweet and sour red cabbage:
In a large skillet, combine drippings or oil, brown sugar, vinegar, water, salt and pepper. Cook for two to three minutes or until hot, stirring occasionally. Add cabbage; cover and cook 10 minutes over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally. Add apples; cook, uncovered, for about 10 minutes more or until tender, stirring occasionally.
