Sweet and sour pork
Ingredients/Components
- brown sugar - 1/4 c
- cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
- water - 1/2 c
- oil - 2 Tbsp
- vinegar - 1/3 c
- soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
- thinly sliced onion - 1/2 c
- can pineapple chunks with juice - 1 oz
- lean pork loin
- thinly sliced green pepper - 3/4 c
How to make sweet and sour pork:
Trim all visible fat from pork loin and cut into thin strips. Heat oil in skillet and brown the meat strips. Remove meat and set aside. Drain the pineapple and combine pineapple juice with water, vinegar, brown sugar, cornstarch and soy sauce. Shake in a glass jar until well mixed. Cook sweet and sour sauce in skillet until clear and slightly thickened. Add the meat and cook over low heat for about 1 hour. About 5 minutes before serving, add the green pepper, onion slices and pineapple chunks. Serve over steamed rice.Recipe categories: Pineapple, Main dish, Pork.
