Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • soy sauce - 3 Tbsp
  • wine vinegar - 3 Tbsp
  • white vinegar - 1/2 c
  • pineapple juice - 1/2 c
  • pineapple - 1/4 c
  • pork
  • cornstarch, dissolved in 1/4 c
  • tomato soup do not dilute - 3 Tbsp
  • red and/or green peppers, finely chopped - 1/4 c

How to make sweet and sour pork:

Sauce:1/2 c. sugar1/2 c. white vinegar1/2 c. pineapple juice3 Tbsp. tomato soup (do not dilute)1 1/4 Tbsp. cornstarch, dissolved in 1/4 c. water1/4 c. pineapple1/4 c. red and/or green peppers, finely chopped Cut pork into 1/2 x 1/2 x 2-inch pieces. Marinate in soy sauce and wine vinegar for 30 minutes. Drain pork and brown in wok or frying pan in 2 tablespoons oil. When brown, add soy sauce and wine vinegar used for marinade. Cover and cook over low flame for 30 minutes or until pork is well done.

Make sauce while pork is cooking. Dissolve sugar in white vinegar in a small saucepan. Add pineapple juice, soup and cornstarch and water. Mix well and cook over low flame until mixture is thickened and is a clear red, stirring often, approximately 15 minutes. Add chopped pineapple and pepper and cook 2 minutes. Serve pork and sauce over rice.
