Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 1/4 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • Worcestershire sauce - 1/2 tsp
  • parsley flakes - 1 Tbsp
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • dried bread crumbs - 1/2 c
  • bottle chili sauce - 1 oz
  • jar grape jelly - 1 oz
  • fresh minced onions - 1/3 c

How to make sweet and sour meatballs:

Mix ground beef, bread crumbs, onions, milk, egg, parsley flakes, salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce as you would for meat loaf until you can roll the mixture into balls. Roll into 1-inch balls and place into lightly greased 11 x 15-inch jelly roll pan and bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes or until done. (Cover pan lightly with foil to prevent splattering.) Drain meatballs on paper towel.

In skillet, mix chili sauce and jelly on low; heat until jelly is melted and sauce is smooth, stirring constantly. Do not let boil. Add meatballs; stir to coat and turn heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Serve in chafing dish or crock-pot.

Note: For larger number of people, double only the meatballs or triple meatballs and double sauce.
