Sweet and sour meatballs
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1 c
- oil - 1 item
- egg - 1 item
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- melted butter or margarine - 1 Tbsp
- pineapple juice - 3 c
- breadcrumbs - 3/4 c
- ground chuck
- finely packed brown sugar - 1/2 c
- to 8 gingersnaps, crushed - 6 item
How to make sweet and sour meatballs:
Mix breadcrumbs, milk, ground chuck, onions and egg. Salt and pepper to taste. Form into 1 inch balls and brown in small amount of oil; drain. Combine butter, gingersnaps, brown sugar and pineapple juice. Simmer 30 minutes until thick and smooth, stirring occasionally. Pour sauce over meatballs and simmer 5 minutes. Spoon into chafing dish over candle. Put pineapple chunks, if desired. Yields 30 to 40 meatballs.Recipe categories: Pineapple, Main dish, Ground beef.
