Swedish meatballs
Ingredients/Components
- ground beef - 1 lb
- soft bread crumbs - 1 c
- beaten egg - 1 item
- evaporated milk - 2/3 c
- chopped onion - 1/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- dash of pepper - 1 item
How to make swedish meatballs:
Mix all ingredients together. Form into small balls. Heat in a skillet with 2 tablespoons oil. Add meatballs, a few at a time, and brown slowly, turning gently to brown evenly. Remove meatballs when brown.Add 1 cup water, stock or consomme to drippings and bring to a boil, stirring to loosen brown particles. Combine 1 tablespoon flour and 2 tablespoons cold water; blend until smooth. Slowly add to skillet, stirring constantly. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens. Add meatballs, cover and simmer 30 minutes.
