Swedish ginger cookies
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon - 2 tsp
- butter - 1 c
- water - 1 Tbsp
- soda - 2 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- ginger - 1 tsp
- sifted flour
- dark corn syrup - 2 Tbsp
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
- grated orange peel
- blanched almonds - 1 item
How to make swedish ginger cookies:
Thoroughly cream butter and sugar. Add egg and beat until light and fluffy. Add orange peel, corn syrup and water; mix well. Sift together dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture. Chill dough thoroughly.On lightly floured surface, roll to 1/8-inch. Cut in desired shapes. (For sparkly look, sprinkle rolled dough with sugar, then press it in lightly with a rolling pin.) Place one inch apart on cookie sheet. Top each cookie with blanched almond half. Bake 5 to 8 minutes at 350° or until golden brown and crisp. Cool on rack.
