  • sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • granulated sugar - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • hot water - 1/2 c
  • lemon juice
  • paprika - 1/4 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • ground beef - 1 lb
  • cans tomato sauce
  • grated onion - 2 Tbsp
  • large onion, chopped - 1 item
  • large head cabbage - 1 item
  • fresh, frozen or canned lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
  • instant rice Minute - 1/2 c

How to make stuffed cabbage rolls:

Sauce:2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce1/2 c. granulated sugar1 1/4 c. lemon juice Combine ground beef, instant rice (uncooked), sugar, grated onion, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, salt, pepper and paprika. Parboil cabbage leaves. Put large spoonful meat mixture on each leaf; roll up, tucking in ends to make neat, compact bundles. Saute chopped onion, paprika, hot water, salt and pepper in melted margarine. Place sauteed onions in bottom of ovenproof casserole. Place cabbage rolls on top of onions. Mix tomato sauce, granulated sugar and lemon juice. Pour over cabbage rolls. Cover. Bake in 325° oven for 2 hours. Taste, add more sugar or lemon juice, if desired.
