Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- pkg - 1 oz
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- miniature marshmallows - 1 c
- frozen strawberries in syrup, thawed - 2 c
How to make strawberry shortcut cake:
Generously grease bottom only of a 9 x 13-inch pan. Sprinkle marshmallows on bottom of pan. In a bowl, combine strawberries, syrup and gelatin thoroughly; set aside.In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, shortening, baking powder, salt, milk, vanilla and eggs. Blend at low speed until moistened. Beat 3 minutes at medium speed, scraping sides of bowl. Pour batter over marshmallows. Spread strawberry mixture evenly over batter. Bake at 350° for 45 to 50 minutes, until golden brown and toothpick inserted comes out clean.
