Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- eggs - 3 item
- salt - 1 tsp
- butter - 3 Tbsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- sweet milk, scalded - 2 c
- yellow or white corn meal - 1 c
How to make spoon bread:
Add corn meal to scalded milk, stirring constantly to prevent lumping. Combine butter; blend until smooth. Cool slightly. Add well beaten egg yolks, beating while adding. Combine salt, sugar and baking powder, then stir in. Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites. Pour into a hot baking or casserole dish. Preheat oven to 400°. Cook for 30 minutes. Serve hot.
