Ingredients/Components

  • water
  • vegetable oil - 2 Tbsp
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • chili powder - 2 tsp
  • can tomato sauce - 1 oz
  • chopped green pepper - 1 c
  • ground black pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • lean ground beef - 1 lb
  • ground cumin - 1/2 tsp
  • seasoned salt - 1 tsp
  • uncooked rice - 1 c
  • can tomatoes, drained and chopped optional - 1 1/2

How to make spanish rice:

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add beef, onion and green pepper, cooking until there is no more pink to the meat; drain liquid. Stir in remaining ingredients; reduce heat. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until rice is tender. Yields 6 servings.
