Spanish rice
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- water
- oil - 1 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- long grain rice - 1 c
- garlic clove, minced - 1 item
- tomato sauce - 1/4 c
- ground cumin - 1/2 tsp
- onion slices - 1/8 c
- diced carrots, peas or green peppers optional - 1/4 c
How to make spanish rice:
Cook rice, oil, onion and garlic over medium heat in large skillet until rice is browned. Add remaining spices, tomato sauce, water and vegetables. Cook over medium heat 10 to 15 minutes until water is absorbed. Reduce to low and cover last 5 minutes for fluffy rice. Makes 6 to 8 servings.Recipe categories: Low protein, Low fat, Side dish.
