Ingredients/Components

  • spaghetti - 6 oz
  • butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • grated Parmesan cheese - 1/2 c
  • well beaten eggs - 2 item
  • 8 oz - 1 c
  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • dried oregano, crushed - 1 tsp
  • garlic salt - 1/2 tsp
  • ground beef or bulk pork sausage - 1 lb
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • chopped green pepper - 1/4 c
  • can tomatoes, cut up - 1 oz
  • can tomato paste - 1 oz
  • shredded Mozzarella cheese - 1/2 c

How to make spaghetti pie:

Cook spaghetti according to package. Drain. (Should have 3 cups spaghetti.) Stir butter or margarine into hot spaghetti. Stir in Parmesan cheese and eggs. Form spaghetti mixture into a "crust" in a buttered 10-inch pie plate. Spread cottage cheese over bottom of spaghetti crust.

In skillet, cook meat, onion and green peppers until vegetables are tender and meat is browned. Drain. Stir in undrained tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, oregano and garlic salt. Heat thoroughly. Turn meat mixture into spaghetti crust. Bake in 350° oven 20 minutes, uncovered. Sprinkle Mozzarella cheese on top. Bake 5 minutes until cheese melts. Makes 6 servings.
