Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • butter or margarine - 2 Tbsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • grated Parmesan cheese - 1/3 c
  • dried oregano, crushed - 1 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • can tomatoes, cut up - 1 oz
  • chopped green pepper - 1/4 c
  • cottage cheese - 1 c
  • can tomato paste - 1 oz
  • shredded Mozzarella cheese - 1/2 c
  • spaghetti - 6 oz
  • well beaten eggs - 2 item
  • ground beef or bulk pork sausage - 1 lb

How to make spaghetti pie:

Cook the spaghetti; drain (should have about 3 1/4 cups). Stir in margarine; stir in cheese and eggs. Form mixture into a "crust" in a buttered 10-inch pie plate.

In skillet, cook beef or pork sausage, onion and green pepper until tender and meat is browned. Drain off excess fat. Stir in undrained tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, oregano and garlic salt. Heat through.

Spread cottage cheese over spaghetti "crust." Fill pie with tomato mixture. Bake, uncovered, in a 350° oven for 20 minutes. Sprinkle Mozzarella atop. Bake 5 minutes longer or until cheese melts. Yields 6 servings.
