Sourdough bread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/3 c
- salt - 1 Tbsp
- warm water
- corn oil - 1/2 c
- Starter - 1 c
- more or less flour, bread or plain - 6 c
How to make sourdough bread:
Stir together all ingredients, except flour. Add flour, a little at a time, mixing well. Put dough in large greased bowl. Turn dough to grease top. Cover with aluminum foil. Let rise at room temperature overnight, or at least 8 hours.Punch dough down, and turn onto floured surface and knead. Divide into 3 greased loaf pans and brush with oil. Cover and let rise 4 to 5 hours. (I make a tent out of foil to keep from sticking to bread as it rises. Also, I put it on rack in cold oven to rise, but not more than 5 hours; it will fall.)
