  • yellow cake mix - 1 pkg
  • egg - 1 item
  • margarine - 1/3 c
  • miniature marshmallows - 3 c
  • corn syrup
  • vanilla - 2 tsp
  • Rice Krispies cereal - 2 c
  • salted peanuts - 2 c
  • pkg - 12 oz

How to make salted peanut chews:

Topping:2/3 c. corn syrup2 tsp. vanilla2 c. Rice Krispies cereal2 c. salted peanuts1/4 c. margarine12 oz. pkg. peanut butter or butterscotch chips Heat oven to 350°. Combine base ingredients, except marshmallows, at low speed until crumbly. Press into bottom of ungreased 13 x 9-inch pan. Bake at 350° for 8 to 12 minutes. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle with marshmallows. Return to oven for 1 to 2 minutes until marshmallows begin to puff. Cool while preparing topping.

In a large saucepan, heat corn syrup, margarine, vanilla and chips just until chips are melted and mixture is smooth, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in cereal and nuts. Immediately spoon warm topping over marshmallows. Spread to cover. Chill and cut into bars. Store covered.
