Ingredients/Components
- celery - 1 item
- onions - 1 item
- bacon - 1 item
- mustard spread - 1 item
- pickles, sliced in 1/2 or 1/4-inch no sweet
- slice sirloin or top round 3/16-inch
How to make rouladen:
Serve over egg noodles, rice or salt potatoes.Salt Potatoes: Boil water and salt (generous). Add peeled and quartered potatoes
Spread mustard on meat. Put slice of bacon the length of meat and a slice of pickle. Roll as jelly roll and secure with toothpicks to hold. Brown meat in a big pot or roaster. Take meat out after browning. Saute chopped onions and celery in the same pot until wilted. Add a "little" flour. This is not gravy. Add water a little at a time until well blended. Return all the meat in the pot and add enough water to cover the meat. Simmer slow until tender. Season to taste.
