  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1 c
  • vanilla flavoring
  • cocoa - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • vinegar - 1 tsp
  • self-rising flour
  • red food coloring - 2 3
  • box powdered sugar - 1 item
  • Wesson oil
  • cream cheese room temperature - 8 oz
  • Frosting:1 stick margarine

How to make red velvet cake:

Frosting:1 stick margarine8 oz. cream cheese (room temperature)1 box powdered sugar1 c. chopped nuts1 tsp. vanilla Mix sugar, oil and eggs; beat well. Mix red food coloring, vinegar and cocoa together in a cup. Add other mixture and beat well. Add buttermilk, flour and flavoring. Beat until mixed. Bake at 350° for 35 minutes. Makes 3 layers.

Frosting: Mix well. Cool cake before icing.
