  • sugar
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 Tbsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • cocoa - 1 Tbsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • Crisco - 1/2 c
  • red food coloring - 2 oz
  • cake flour sift 3 or 4 times - 2 c

How to make red velvet cake:

Sift flour, salt, soda and cocoa together. Mix Crisco and sugar together. Add eggs, then add dry ingredients and buttermilk alternately. Add vinegar and food coloring. Frost cake with your favorite white frosting.
