Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- pkg - 1 oz
- salt - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 1 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- stick butter - 1 item
- plain flour
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- red food coloring - 2 oz
- Make paste of coloring and cocoa
How to make red velvet cake:
Cream sugar, Crisco and eggs. Make paste of coloring and cocoa. Add to mixture. Add salt, flour, buttermilk and vanilla. Beat. Fold in vinegar and soda. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
