Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cocoa - 2 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- red food coloring - 2 oz
- cake flour, sifted
- 1/2 sticks margarine - 1 item
- Cream and beat fluffy sugar, Crisco and eggs
How to make red velvet cake:
Mix together food coloring and cocoa; set aside. Cream and beat fluffy sugar, Crisco and eggs. Add food coloring mixture. Add sifted flour, salt, buttermilk and vanilla. Remove from mixer and add baking soda and vinegar. Bake in 3 pans at 350° for 18 minutes.Frosting:4 1/2 Tbsp. flour1 c. milk3 Tbsp. vanilla1 1/2 sticks margarine4 Tbsp. Crisco1 1/2 c. sugar Combine flour, milk and vanilla. Cook until thick. Cool and add margarine, Crisco and sugar. Beat until light and fluffy.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, American.
