Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 3 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking soda - 1 Tbsp
- vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- red food coloring - 2 Tbsp
- white sugar
- cake flour - 2 c
- Add and beat until fluffy the eggs
How to make red cake:
Cream together the shortening and sugar. Add and beat until fluffy the eggs. Sift together the flour and cocoa. Add alternately with buttermilk. Dissolve the baking soda in the vinegar. Add to batter. Mix in the food coloring. Pour into greased and floured cake pans and bake at 350° for 25 minutes.Icing:3 heaping Tbsp. flour1 1/4 c. white sugar1 tsp. vanilla In a saucepan, place the flour. Slowly add the sugar and vanilla, stirring constantly. Add flour mixture until creamy. Ice between layers, top and sides.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, < 60 mins.
