Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 1/2 c
• eggs - 2 item
• vanilla - 1 tsp
• salt - 1 tsp
• buttermilk - 1 c
• baking soda - 1 tsp
• vinegar - 1 Tbsp
• shortening - 1/2 c
• red food coloring - 2 oz
• cake flour

How to make red cake:

Cream shortening and sugar together. Make paste with eggs and food coloring. Add salt, buttermilk and flour to mixture. Mix vanilla, vinegar and soda together; fold into cake batter. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.
