- sugar - 1/2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- red food coloring - 2 oz
- cake flour
How to make red cake:
Cream shortening and sugar together. Make paste with eggs and food coloring. Add salt, buttermilk and flour to mixture. Mix vanilla, vinegar and soda together; fold into cake batter. Bake at 350° for 30 to 35 minutes.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cakes, < 60 mins.
