Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 2 item
- granulated sugar - 2/3 c
- salt
- flour - 6 7
- shortening - 2/3 c
- mashed potatoes * - 1 c
- granulated yeast or 1 cake - 1 pkg
How to make raised doughnuts:
*Mash but do not add anything before measuring. Drain 1 1/4 cups liquid.Beat the first 3 ingredients together. Add the eggs, beating well. Dissolve the yeast in 1/4 cup lukewarm water. Add to mixture along with 1 1/4 cups potato water. Mix with part of the flour. Add 2/3 cup melted shortening and the remainder of the flour. Refrigerate overnight. (Cover with towel.) Roll out 1/4 to 1/2-inch thick. Place on lightly floured surface. Cover and let rise 2 hours. Deep fry (375°). Turn when center browns. Drain and dip in glaze.
