Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/4 c
- lukewarm water - 1/4 c
- yeast cake - 1 item
How to make raised doughnuts:
Scald milk and pour over the shortening. Add salt, sugar and nutmeg. Cool until lukewarm; add beaten egg and yeast, which has been softened in the warm water. Add enough flour to make a stiff dough. Knead thoroughly and let rise in a warm place until doubled in bulk. Fry in deep fat, which should be 360°. Cook about 2 1/2 minutes each.
