Ingredients/Components

  • graham cracker crumbs - 1 c
  • sugar - 2/3 c
  • vanilla - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped pecans - 1/2 c
  • packed brown sugar - 1 c
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • cornstarch - 2 tsp
  • eggs, beaten - 2 item
  • dairy sour cream - 1/2 c
  • baking powder - 3 tsp
  • sifted flour
  • vanilla ice cream, softened - 1 pt

How to make praline cake:

Combine brown sugar, sour cream, 2 tablespoons butter and cornstarch in 2-quart saucepan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick and bubbly. Remove from heat. Stir in vanilla and set aside.

Stir together flour, sugar, graham cracker crumbs and baking powder in bowl. Set aside.

Melt 1/2 cup butter in 3-quart saucepan over medium heat. Remove from heat. Stir in ice cream until well blended. Add dry ingredients and eggs to ice cream mixture; stir until well blended. Spread batter in greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch baking pan. Spoon 1/2 cup of the brown sugar topping over batter. Bake in 350° oven 30 minutes or until a cake tester or toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Stir pecans into remaining topping and carefully spread over hot cake. Cool in pan on rack.
