Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- flour - 2 c
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- egg yolks - 3 item
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- shortening - 1/2 c
- egg whites - 3 item
- whipped cream - 1 item
- poppy seed - 1/3 c
How to make poppy seed cake:
Filling:2 c. milk3 Tbsp. cornstarch1 c. sugar3 egg yolks vanilla whipped cream Cake: Sift flour, salt, sugar and baking powder. Add milk, vanilla and flour mixture. Beat well; add poppy seed. Fold in beaten egg whites. Bake at 370° for 25 to 35 minutes.Filling: Combine milk, cornstarch, sugar, egg yolks and vanilla and boil over water until thickened. Spread over cooled cake and top with whipped cream.
