Poppy seed bread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- milk
- salt
- flour - 3 c
- almond extract - 2 tsp
- baking powder
- vegetable oil
- powdered sugar - 3/4 c
- poppy seed
- eggs, slightly beaten - 3 item
- orange juice concentrate, thawed
How to make poppy seed bread:
Orange Glaze:1/4 c. orange juice concentrate, thawed3/4 c. powdered sugar1/2 tsp. vanilla1 tsp. almond extract Preheat oven to 350°. Grease and flour 2 loaf pans. Beat together eggs, sugar, oil and milk. In separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Stir dry ingredients into egg mixture. Stir in poppy seed and almond extract. Pour into 2 loaf pans. Bake 1 hour at 350°. Bread is done when toothpick comes out clean.Meanwhile, prepare glaze. Combine orange juice concentrate, powdered sugar, vanilla and almond extract in small bowl.
Place cooking racks on waxed paper. Cool bread in pans 10 minutes. Remove bread from pans. Place on racks and spread reserved glaze over the warm bread. Cool. Wrap. Store at room temperature.
