Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 5 lb
- pears - 10 lb
- lemon or lemon juice - 1 item
How to make pear preserves:
Select hard green pears. Wash, peel and core. Slice thin and place in large pan. Add sugar and mix thoroughly with pears. Let stand 8 to 10 hours. Slice lemon thin, removing seeds, and add to pears. Bring to boil quickly over high heat, stirring constantly until sugar is dissolved. Boil rapidly, stirring frequently, until pears are transparent and syrup thickens.
