Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- milk - 3/4 1
- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- flour - 2 c
- butter - 1/2 c
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- grated orange rind - 1 item
How to make orange bread:
Cream butter or margarine and sugar. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Combine flour, baking powder, soda and salt (1/4 teaspoon) and sift. Add rind to creamed mixture. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk (I use only 3/4 of a cup) to cream mixture. Fold in raisins and nuts. Bake in a greased loaf pan at 325° for one hour.Prepare juice of orange and 1/4 cup sugar. Let stand. When loaf is done, pour over hot loaf.
