Ingredients/Components
- butter - 3 Tbsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 tsp
- dry red wine - 6 Tbsp
- bay leaf - 1 item
- dry sherry - 3 Tbsp
- thyme - 1 tsp
- yellow onions, thinly sliced
- Gruyere or Swiss cheese - 1 item
- toasted bread - 1 item
- beef stock College Inn - 5 c
How to make onion soup:
Melt butter in heavy frypan, add onions and cook until soft and caramelized. Add wine and sherry. Bring to boil. Add beef stock, Worcestershire, thyme and bay leaf. Reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes. Top each serving with toasted bread and grated Gruyere or Swiss cheese.Recipe categories: Low protein, Low cholesterol, Soups & stews.
