Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 2/3 c
  • butter or margarine - 1/3 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • all purpose flour - 1/3 c
  • water
  • 8 oz - 1 pkg
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • garlic clove, minced - 1 item
  • celery seed - 2 tsp
  • chicken - 2 c
  • chicken bouillon granules - 2 tsp
  • cold butter or margarine - 1/3 c
  • frozen mixed vegetables - 1 c
  • Stir in flour, garlic, salt and pepper until well blended

How to make old fashioned chicken pot pie:

In sauce pan, melt butter. Stir in flour, garlic, salt and pepper until well blended. Gradually stir in water, milk and bouillon. Bring to a boil and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from heat, stir in chicken and veggies, set aside.Pastry:1 2/3 c. all purpose flour2 tsp. celery seed1 pkg. (8 oz.) cream cheese, cubed1/3 c. cold butter or margarine Combine flour and celery seed in a bowl. Cut in cream cheese and butter until crumbly. Work mixture by hand until dough forms a ball. On lightly floured surface roll 2/3 of the pastry dough into a 12-inch square. Transfer to an 8-inch square baking dish. Pour filling into crust. Roll the remaining dough into a 9-inch square and place over filling. Trim, seal and flute the edges of the dough, cut slits in pastry. Bake at 425 degrees for 30-35 minutes or until crust is golden brown.
