  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • oatmeal - 3 c
  • white sugar - 1 c

How to make oatmeal cookies:

Cream shortening and sugars until light; beat in eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, soda, and oatmeal; add to creamed mixture and beat until just combined. Place tablespoons of dough on lightly greased cookie sheets and bake at 350° until light brown, about 12 minutes.
