vanilla - 1 tsp
granulated sugar - 1/2 c
salt - 1 tsp
brown sugar - 1 c
water - 1/4 c
soda - 1/2 tsp
egg - 1 item
sifted flour - 1 c
soft shortening - 3/4 c
quick oats, uncooked - 3 c

How to make oatmeal cookies:

Mix thoroughly the shortening, sugar, egg, water and vanilla. Sift together flour, salt and soda. Add to shortening mixture. Blend in oats. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheets. Bake in moderate oven at 350°F for 12 to 15 minutes.
