  • butter, softened - 1/2 c
  • sugar - 1 c
  • eggs - 3 item
  • packed brown sugar - 1 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • cocoa - 1 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • boiling water
  • all-purpose flour
  • chopped walnuts - 3/4 c
  • uncooked oatmeal - 1 c
  • chocolate chips, divided - 1 pkg

How to make oatmeal chocolate chip cake:

In a bowl, pour water over oatmeal. Allow to stand 10 minutes. Add sugar, butter and eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Sift flour, soda, cocoa and salt together. Add to batter. Stir in half of chocolate chips. Pour into a greased 9 x 13-inch cake pan. Sprinkle top with walnuts and remaining chocolate chips. Bake at 350° for about 40 minutes.
