  • cup shortening - 1/2 item
  • cup coconut - 1 item
  • cup oatmeal - 1 item
  • 1/2 cup boiling water - 1 item
  • 1/2 cup flour, sifted - 1 item
  • Cream shortening and sugars, add eggs, then add flour, soda, cinnamon

How to make oatmeal cake:

Cook oatmeal and cool 20 minutes. Cream shortening and sugars, add eggs, then add flour, soda, cinnamon. Add to oatmeal. Pour batter into jelly roll pan, bake at 350° for 20 minutes.Icing:9 Tbsp butter, melted1 cup brown sugar1/2 cup evaporated milk1 tsp vanilla1 cup coconut Mix ingredients and pour on hot cake, place in broiler until coconut is light brown.
