Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 2 item
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- brown sugar - 1 c
- coconut - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- boiling water
- cream - 1/4 c
- light brown sugar - 1 c
- white sugar - 1 c
- ground cinnamon - 1 tsp
- oats - 1 c
- stick butter or margarine - 1 item
How to make oatmeal cake:
Mix boiling water and oats and let stand for 20 minutes. Cream together shortening and sugar; add eggs and beat well. Add oats mixture. Add dry ingredients and mix well. Bake in a greased sheet pan at 275° for 35 to 45 minutes. While still warm, put topping on cake and return to oven to broil for about 5 minutes.Mix last 4 ingredients for topping. Spread on cake. Place under broiler for 5 minutes.
