Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 4 c
- salt - 1 pt
- flour - 1 c
- water - 4 gal
- vinegar - 2 qt
- dry mustard - 6 Tbsp
- cauliflower - 1 item
- turmeric powder - 1 Tbsp
- green tomatoes - 1 qt
- small cukes - 2 qt
- small pickling onions - 2 qt
How to make mustard pickles:
Cut cucumbers, tomatoes and cauliflower in bite size pieces. Make a brine of 4 gallons of water and 1 pint salt. Add vegetables and set overnight. In the morning, drain and cook vegetables until tender, not soft.Mustard Sauce: Make a paste of 1 cup flour, 6 tablespoons dry mustard, 1 tablespoon turmeric powder and 4 cups sugar. Stir in 2 quarts of vinegar. Cook over low heat until thick and pour over vegetables.
