Monte cristo sandwiches
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- eggs - 5 item
- flour
- slices bread - 3 item
- slice deli ham - 1 item
- slice deli turkey - 1 item
- slice cheese we prefer Monterey Jack; can also use Swiss - 1 item
- light cream milk works
How to make monte cristo sandwiches:
Batter:1 c. light cream (milk works)5 eggs1 1/2 c. flour1 1/4 c. sugar Construct sandwiches: Slice diagonally. Pin with toothpicks. Beat together cream and eggs. Add flour and sugar; mix well. Dip pinned sandwich halves into batter; allow to drain slightly. Fry in 1 to 1/2 inches of oil at 375° in a deep electric skillet. Fry for 5 total minutes, turning once. Drain on paper toweling. May be served plain, sprinkled with powdered sugar or with a dip of your favorite jam or jelly. Yum-yum!!Recipe categories: Lunch/snacks, Main dish, Sandwich.
