Ingredients/Components
- eggs, separated - 5 item
- can sweetened condensed milk - 1 oz
- grated lime peel - 1 Tbsp
- fresh lime juice - 3/4 c
- heavy cream, whipped - 1 c
- 9-inch pie shell, prebaked - 1 item
How to make key lime pie:
Preheat the oven to 325°. Beat the egg yolks for 5 minutes or until thick. Slowly add condensed milk, lime juice and lime peel; then set aside. In another bowl, with clean beaters, beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Do not beat whites stiff. Gently fold the condensed milk mixture into the beaten egg whites. Spoon into pie shell.
