Italian fig cookies
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- cinnamon - 1 Tbsp
- eggs - 3 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- baking powder - 4 tsp
- raisins - 2 lb
- margarine - 1 c
- cloves - 2 tsp
- orange juice - 3/4 c
- black pepper - 1 tsp
- orange rind - 1 Tbsp
- figs - 1 lb
How to make italian fig cookies:
Dough:6 c. flour1 1/4 c. sugar1 c. margarine3 eggs4 tsp. baking powder1 tsp. salt1 c. milk2 tsp. vanilla Filling: Put raisins and figs through meat grinder (fine blade). Add all other ingredients; mix thoroughly for filling.Dough: Cream sugar and margarine together. Add eggs; beat until creamy. Add vanilla. Mix flour, baking powder and salt; add to wet mixture, alternating with milk. Mix thoroughly to form a soft dough. Refrigerate for several hours. Roll out dough in strips about 3 x 24-inches. Mound filling down center of strip. Pull one edge up over filling. Roll over onto opposite edge. Leaving seam side down, cut roll into 2-inch lengths. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 400° for 10 minutes on lower shelf and 10 minutes on upper shelf. Makes 12 dozen cookies.
