  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 5 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • stick margarine - 1 item
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • pecans - 1 c
  • can coconut - 1 item

How to make italian cream cake:

Beat 5 egg whites stiffly. Cream margarine with shortening. Add sugar, beat until smooth. Add egg yolks, one at a time. Beat well. Sift flour and soda together. Add to mixture with buttermilk, coconut, pecans and egg whites. Flour and grease 3 cake pans. Bake at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes. Frost with Cream Cheese Frosting.
