  • sugar - 1 c
  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • plain flour
  • sweet milk - 1 qt
  • RapidRise yeast - 2 pkg

How to make icebox rolls:

Heat milk to lukewarm. Add sugar and shortening. Mix yeast with 1 cup of flour. Add to warm milk mixture. Add 5 cups of flour; mix well. Batter will be thin. Let set for 1 hour. Mixture will rise. Add baking powder, soda and salt to the 2 1/2 cups of flour; stir into the risen mixture. Store in refrigerator overnight. Remove dough. Roll, cut and dip in melted butter. Let rise and bake.
