Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1/2 c
  • melted butter - 1/2 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • self-rising flour - 1 c
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • chopped onions - 1/2 c
  • self-rising cornmeal - 2 c
  • small can whole kernel corn - 1 item
  • corn juice and water - 3/4 c

How to make hush puppies:

Sift together cornmeal, flour, salt, pepper and sugar. Add onions, buttermilk and juice from corn. Mix well. Add butter and egg. Drop by small tablespoons into 370° deep fat (or oil). Cook until golden brown.
