Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- buttermilk
- baking powder - 3 tsp
- melted butter - 1/4 c
- egg - 1 item
- sifted flour - 1/2 c
- corn meal
How to make corn bread:
Set pan in a 450° oven to preheat. Beat egg until light. Beat in buttermilk and soda. Sift dry ingredients; add to liquid mixture. Beat in butter. Grease hot pan (muffin or 10-inch pie plate); fill almost full with mixture. Bake for about 15 minutes. Remove from oven; brush top with soft butter. Place under broiler for about 1 minute, or in very hot oven for 3 to 4 minutes, until golden brown.Recipe categories: Breads, Quick breads, Southern u.s..
