Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 1/4 c
- soda - 1/4 tsp
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- baking powder
- egg - 1 item
- chopped onion - 1/4 c
- corn meal - 1 c
- bell or hot pepper - 1 Tbsp
How to make hush puppies:
Mix all ingredients and drop by teaspoonful into deep hot oil. Hush puppies will turn themselves when underside is brown. Cook until golden brown on all sides. May take more or less to make stiff batter.Recipe categories: American, Side dish, Southern u.s..
