Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 2 tsp
  • flour - 1/4 c
  • water - 1/2 c
  • oil - 2 Tbsp
  • paprika - 2 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • garlic clove, minced - 1 item
  • beef stew meat - 2 lb
  • medium green pepper, chopped - 1 item
  • can tomatoes, undrained - 16 oz
  • marjoram leaves - 1 tsp
  • to 3 medium onions, sliced - 2 item

How to make hungarian goulash:

In a large bowl or plastic bag, coat beef cubes with 1/4 cup flour. In a large skillet or Dutch oven, brown meat and onions in hot oil. Stir in paprika, salt, marjoram, pepper, green pepper, garlic, 1/2 cup water and tomatoes. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, 2 hours or until meat is tender. Combine 3 tablespoons flour with 1/2 cup water. Stir into hot liquid. Heat mixture until it boils and thickens, stirring constantly. Serve over noodles.
