Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- water - 1/2 c
- chili powder - 6 Tbsp
- can tomato sauce - 1/2 item
- ground beef - 1 lb
- can Ro-Tel tomatoes - 1 item
- cloves garlic - 4 item
- medium onions - 2 item
- ground pork - 1 lb
- corn meal - 1/2 c
- chili quick - 2 Tbsp
- to 4 or 2 jalapeno peppers - 3 item
- or 1 powdered cumin - 2 Tbsp
- After blending, pour into mixture of ground beef, ground pork and corn meal
How to make hot tamales:
Combine onions, salt, garlic, chili quick, chili powder, water, Ro-Tel tomatoes, tomato sauce, jalapeno peppers and powdered cumin in blender. After blending, pour into mixture of ground beef, ground pork and corn meal. Combine both meat mixture and blended mixture thoroughly. Let stand a few minutes.Drop 1 rounded tablespoon of meat mixture into corn meal and salt mixture; roll lightly, shaping into a 2-inch long roll. (Corn meal will stick to meat mixture.) Place on wet tamale papers and fold securely. Stack tamales in large saucepan tightly. Pour steam mixture over and simmer for 1 hour and 15 minutes or longer.Steam Mixture:1/2 can tomato sauce2 to 3 Tbsp. salt2 Tbsp. chili powder2 Tbsp. chili quick1/2 can Ro-Tel tomatoes Combine in blender and pour over tamales. Add water to cover tamales. Makes 40 to 60 tamales.
